top five meals for under ten bucks?

to cook yourself?

tacos (tortillas: $1.75 per half kilo; can of beans: $0.99; tomatoes/tomatillos, coriander, onion, garlic, hot pepper: ~$3; maybe an avocado: $1)

pasta (rice or spelt noodles: ~$2; can of beans: $0.99; mess of veg to make into the sauce - usually tomatoes, basil, red pepper, garlic, onions, spinach: ~$3; maybe sun dried tomatoes: $2; maybe tofu: $0.99)

sandwiches (fancy-pants baguette: ~$2.50; tomato, avocado, onion: ~2; mustard or mayo or something else: found in fridge) (or! make hummus: can of chickpeas: $0.99; bulb of garlic: $0.30; cumin and tahini: found in cupboard; lemon: $0.25)

soup (lot of vegetables: $4; dried lentils: ~$1; fresh rosemary and/or dill and/or other herbs spices: ~$2-4; odds and ends from cupboard)

pizza (make dough: ~$3 OR buy pre-made dough from bakery: $1.50; can of sauce ~$1.50 OR make sauce - tomatoes, oregano, etc: $3; other pizza stuff: $2-3; cheese - i buy soy cheese but surely non-soy is about the same or less: $3-4. okay, maybe this is almost more tha $10.)

other: salads, other sandwiches, stir fries.
